just trying to clarify sth , can oppression negate a ritual spell that calls out the ritual monster ?

Oppression can negate any monster, magic and trap cards by gaining 8000 lifepoint.

Oppression is not affected and not destroyed by any other effects.

If you have this card on the field, you win the game instantly.

can cause is a special summon.
you can negate by paying 800 life point to negate any special summon

or an effect that special summons.

You cant oppress if the monster(s) is summoned when a card effect resolves. e.g. monster reborn, call of the haunted, gladiator beasts.
