Games Haven is organizing our first Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament this coming Sunday 26 Sept 2010 1pm

Event Registration : 1200 to 1245 pm
Event Start Time : 0100 pm

Entrance Fee : $10
Venue : GamesHaven 736A Geylang Road (view map HERE )

Round :
Min 8 players to start
Swiss Rounds Cut to Top 8 Single Elimination
Each round = 40mins
8 players = 3 Round Swiss
9-16 = 4 Round Swiss
17-32 = 5 Round Swiss

Door Gift :
All participants will receive a Cardboard Deck Box (holds 200 cards).

Prize Pool (top 8 will draft base on ranking) :
- 1 Booster Box*
- 1 Booster Box of Extra Packs Vol 3
- 5 Extra Pack Vol 3 Boosters OR 10 Booster Packs*
- 5 Extra Pack Vol 3 Boosters OR 10 Booster Packs*
- 5 Booster Packs*

* Choose between Starstrike Blast, Duelist Revolution OR Shining Darkness
This prize payout is based on 16 players. It will be adjusted based on turnout. If turnout exceeds expectation, we will add prizes into the pool.

Rules:
1. Min 40 cards Max 60 cards, Side deck of up to 15 cards, Extra Deck of 0 to 15 cards.
2. No Fake cards or Proxys allowed in the event.
3. 1st SEP 2010 OCG Ban and Restricted list used in Tournament.
4. All language of Yugioh cards allowed in Tournament including TCG exclusive.
5. The side of your Protector showing your card must be TRANSPARENT.
6. All standard rules of Trading Card Games.
7. Any attempts to cheat or harass other players will result in penalties

Lower entry fee and more attractive prizes will make more people join. i mean, $10 if you get to top 8, you get 3 boosters... people can buy 3 boosters usually less than $10.. just a thought, no offence...

However the door gift is nice =)

Bottom 4 prizes a bit cui... At least try to cover entry fee...

A pity that I would be unable to take part in the first ever Games Haven Tourney. =.= Probably the second, third and fourth too, if you were to have one every week. xD

Hello folks,
Thanks for all your constructive feedback, we take them all very seriously.

For the singles, we will be slowly building up our collection as we are new to the game. Singles will definitely be part of the events in the near future.

For the event management, we will put our MTG experience into good use. Rulings of the game, however, we hope to tap on the YGO community's knowledge as we are pretty new to the game.

As a new card store and new players to YGO, we thank you for your support and understanding. I hope you guys have fun too

Erm...who are the judges?

i think if you make the entry fee $8 people would be happier to join and i dont think you will make a loss rite?

They are already making loss even $10 entry fee if only 8 people join the tourney..
Very unlikely that they wanted to make more loss for the purpose of attracting ygo players to their shop.

FYI, dont forget the door gift, 10 bucks is pretty reasonable le ba..

obviously i mean like over 20 ppl??? 8 ppl cannot even start a tourney unless is money prize or store credit.. etc....

Above eight, swiss rounds apply.

Also to take note, each round is 40 mins.

i think above 25 ppl then 4 rnd swiss ,for e.g ppl wit 2 wins might fight wit ppl wit 1 win instead ,it shuld be 9-25ppl 3 rnd swiss , above 25ppl then 4 rnd swiss btw , r u using mantis system?

We will be using DCI software for pairing and tie breakers calculation.
The reason for this number of swiss rounds, is because 3 round swiss is not enough to clearly determine the ranks.

For example , in a 16 player setting, after 3 round, there will be 2 players with 3-0 score. This effect snowballs downwards affecting the other ranks


The same is also reflected here :
Regional Qualifiers will be run using Swiss Format, which means all Duelists will play a set number of rounds determined by the number of players. Players are not eliminated during the event, and can play through all Swiss rounds. After the Swiss Round portion of the tournament is completed, the 8 top-ranked Duelists will participate in one Single Elimination playoff round, to determine the top 4.

Swiss Rounds for the 2010 Regional Qualifier Season:

* 4 – 8 Players : 3 Rounds of Swiss
* 9 – 16 Players : 4 Rounds of Swiss
* 17 – 32 Players : 5 Rounds of Swiss
* 33 – 64 Players : 6 Rounds of Swiss
* 65 – 128 Players : 7 Rounds of Swiss
* 129 – 256 Players: 8 Rounds of Swiss
* 257 – 512 Players: 9 Rounds of Swiss
* 513 – 1024 Players : 10 Rounds of Swiss
