Will Prime Material Dragon's Effect work when you activate Solemn Judgement?

Example:

PMD is on the field. Opponent activates MST to destroy 1 back row, and you chain with Solemn Judgement.

Do you gain half of your life points instead of losing half when PMD is on the field?

No. Prime Material Dragon's effect only activates against card effects, not costs. Paying half your life points for Solemn Judgment is a cost.

Solemn Judgment's halving life point is a COST, not an effect. PMD cannot make it a gain.

So it won't work for Royal Oppression as well?

Paying 800 lifepoint is a cost, that won't work either. It has to be an effect; like Poison of the Old Man causing you to lose life point.

Costs cannot be refunded... And it prime material dragon does not refund your costs because prime material requires you to take effect damage.

I think those cards with effect of losing lifepoints instead of taking damages also is useless with PMD...>_<

Cards like Immortal of thunder...or something...

Actually the reason why you cannot gain life point is because they are "losing" life point and not taking damage as Pokekid stated.
