Do monsters still have their effects if they are equip to another monster?

For example:
Stardust Dragon is equipped to Dragunity Arma Leyvaten.

Can Stardust Dragon negate the effect of a card that destroys a card on the field?

no. the monsters equipped are not considered as monsters on the field and their effects cannot be used
