yes they are consider to be on the field... they takes up monster slot too. But they cant be flipped facedown, send to grave, returned to hand. They just disappeared once leave field...

Yup Tokens are so called 'Field Monsters'
You cant flip them face down however.
Tokens are usually use in stalling. (:
